Ettore's Books: Science that heals. Stories that thrill.
My nonfiction titles explore the healing power of nature, revealing how fruits and vegetables can protect, restore, and strengthen human health through evidence-based research and practical wisdom. My novels, in contrast, lead readers into worlds of mystery and moral tension, where truth hides in the shadows, conflicts unfold with emotional depth, and twists keep you on edge until the very last paragraph. Long after finishing, these stories stay with you, inviting reflection, wonder, and curiosity.
Literature that Nourish Mind
and Heart
Welcome to my author portfolio, where science and storytelling meet. My body of work spans both fiction and nonfiction, united by a passion for health, nature, and the quest to understand the intricate dilemmas of the human soul.

In my nonfiction books—Gardening Against Cancer, Greens for Life, Fruits Fighting Cancer, and A Slice of Health—I explore how nature’s simplest gifts can nurture wellness. Each book blends scientific insight with a deep appreciation for the natural world, offering readers only evidence-based knowledge grounded in solid medical research.

My fiction—Betrayed by Destiny, Mussolini’s Illustrator, and The Sins of a Mermaid—dives into the depths of human experience, exploring the unseen forces that shape our choices and the mysteries of the soul.
Every novel is born from a deep curiosity about how people confront moral conflicts, endure fate, and find redemption through resilience.

Together, these books invite you to embrace a healthier way of living while exploring stories of survival, renewal, and the timeless tension between reason and emotion.

Ettore Piroso, MD
Already retired after more than thirty years of intense practice as a medical oncologist, I returned to an old passion from my youth, writing. It became a space where my lifelong commitment to improving the health of others merges with the urge to tell stories of human resilience. Through my books I’ve found new purpose for the years ahead: sharing knowledge, inspiring reflection, and exploring the many ways people confront adversity.

Mirta Noemi Piroso, MS. LPC
After earning a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, I practiced, until retirement, in a variety of clinical settings, focusing primarily on marriage, family, and child therapy.
As an avid gardener and passionate cook I found the way to combined these interests with my professional background in mental health, contributing as co-author to two of the books featured here.

Betrayed by Destiny
They encountered each other later in life. It didn't matter their faces bearing the marks of time and etched with wrinkles and their hearts carrying the scars of forgotten misfortunes. The search for companionship was over. United by a belief in a brighter future, they set out on an emotional journey together.
However, their steps were inadvertently leading them back into the past, a realm where love, crime and deceit entwined like the fingers of a malevolent force.
At the end, they wrestled with an age-old question: Are our lives predetermined along fixed paths, or are we at the mercy of the capricious randomness of our erratic universe?
Mussolini's Illustrator
In a world consumed by war and deceit, love becomes both a refuge and a weapon.
Set against the backdrop of Fascist Italy and the chaos of World War II, Mussolini’s Illustrator follows Isabella and Pasquale, two lovers torn apart by ambition, betrayal, and the brutal tides of history. Separated by continents and circumstance, each is forced to survive in a world where truth is a luxury and lies can save a life.

From the poverty of southern Italy to the immigrant slums of Buenos Aires, their stories intertwine through letters never received, secrets never confessed, and a child lost to the cruelty of fate. When they are finally reunited, the truth they uncover threatens to destroy the fragile illusion that binds them.

Haunted by her past and the sins of her family, Isabella learns that survival often demands silence, and that love, when tested by war, may become the most dangerous illusion of all.
A gripping historical drama of resilience, forbidden love, and the hidden cost of survival.
The Sins of a Mermaid
When a mysterious young man arrives in a secluded town on California’s southern coast, no one knows what to make of him.
He camps near the cliffs, surrounded by strange instruments, claiming to be conducting “marine research.”
To the townspeople, his Arab name and guarded demeanor spark unease. Some think he’s a con artist, others a fugitive, or something far more dangerous.
As rumors swirl, he finds himself cornered by suspicion and forced to reveal the real reason for his presence, one so irrational, so unbelievable, that it becomes strangely compelling.
Curiosity turns into fascination. Visitors begin to pour in, eager to witness the impossible. With them come money, opportunity, and a fragile sense of hope for a forgotten coastal village.
But when tragedy strikes, the thin barrier between science and madness shatters. Munir’s quest drags the town into a storm of obsession, greed, and betrayal, from which no one will escape unchanged.
